This is when the liability for fraudulent chargebacks (stolen or counterfeit cards) shifts from you to the card issuer.
It occurs when 3D Secure payment is successfully authenticated for one of the following card schemes:
- Cartes Bancaires
There is no liability shift for recurring transactions.
There are some other situations where the 3D Secure liability shift occurs. These depend on the acquirer and combination of 3D Secure responses. For more information, contact Support.
How to check whether a liability shift occurred
You can check whether there was a liability shift for a specific payment in the Customer Area. Go to Transactions > Payments > [PSP Reference]. You can see whether there was a liability shift under Processing:
