After submitting an API call to Adyen, it is possible to receive a HTTP 401 Unauthorized error response. HTTP 401 errors are always caused by an authentication issue. This means that an incorrect API Key or the wrong authentication credentials are being used.
Our troubleshooting recommendations:
- Ensure that you are not passing any duplicate Authorization or x-api-key header keys
- Ensure there are no spaces at the start or end of your credentials
- Check that you are authenticating for the correct environment. The credentials for TEST and LIVE are unique
- Re-generate your API Key or Generate a new password for your web service user associated to your account
